  • Anyone use a straight razor?

So I've been using a safety razor and I can't imagine ever going back to the Mach3 etc. let alone having to pay for new cartridges. Now I'm really interested in a straight razor and having been doing a lot of reading. Anyone have any experience?

You can cut the shit out of yourself with those things. It takes a lot of practice.

I used to get a kick out of shaving woman's legs and twat with them. I've used them for my face also but it has been 10+ years since I used one. The best way to practice shaving with one is to shave a balloon that is covered with shaving cream. If you pop the balloon that is the same as a bad cut on your face.

By the way; be prepared for some serious sticker shock when you see the prices of some of the high grade straight razors.

I stick with Merkur (I have an XR4Ti car and couldn't resist getting the razor) safety razors now-a-days.

I've used straight razors. It's a quantum leap backwards between a safety razor and a straight razor. The advice above applies. And keep it extremely sharp.

I've been thinking about going back to a safety razor. The blade costs for Mach 3's etc have just gotten stupid and I hate shaving with throwaway razors.

I've found that I can use a Mach3 about five times longer if I shave immediately after getting out of the shower and I don't use cream. I shave about three/four times a week.

I shave in the shower, they last forever.

I shave in the shower with no shaving cream. I grow a decent beard and I can usually make one of those Mach3 cartridges last about a month or so. It does suck paying for a new pack however!

I bought the disposable Mach3 10 pack at costco pretty cheap, better than the refills.

Ladies, if you go to target they have a generic brand of razors with orange and black handles that have four or five blades. They cost $5 for a pack of three, they will last for quite a while. Just as good as the Mach III in my experience.

The most important thing to making a razor blade last forever is to immediately dry it after use. I dry mine on a towel just for that reason.
