  • Random Question

Okay, I know yall are pretty much knowledgeable on quite a few subjects so here's my question for the day.

I'm thinking about running for mayor of Cooper, Tx out where I live in a few years. Any ideas on how to do it or what exactly I need to do? I know the bastard is paid a 6 figure salary which I will refuse until the county is back profitable and he drives a county car, which I won't accept either. I figure it's time to focus locally as well as nationally.

I took a real basic texas government class that was very helpful. The professors that teach that stuff are very knowledgable and would know every last step you would need. I would start at a jc or university and go speak with one so you know exactly where to start

build a platform of what you believe and go bootstrapping. open the phone book, go door to door and appear everywhere.

my good friend's sister was just elected to the house of representatives and from what i've heard that's how she did it.

get ready for mud slinging and anything from the past coming back up. as much as you want him out he won't want to go.

historic societies have a lot of members and clout in small towns so i'd work something about preservation and things like that into it.

Copper must have some big ballers out there ,been there, but I don't know many small towns that pays there Mayors that kind of money. most mayors get between 15,000-20,000 per term, some real small towns mayors don't get payed at all.

Find the biggest known issue in the town that has not been addressed, have a solution, and use it as a platform.

Kiss babies and get the senior vote. Old people make or break local elections.

That's the thing, I can't even pretend to be politically correct. If I am not voted in because of that, then I won't be. I won't tone down who I am to get elected

If you don't know HOW to run for Mayor I'm thinking maybe you shouldn't run for Mayor.

If you don't know how to run for mayor just learn. Decide what party you want to run with and start talking to them.
