My bill was north of 500. It hurts in the summer.

I live in an apartment, 900 sq ft or so, on the third floor, facing west (lessons learned). We have called them out twice to check out the system. The first time they said it was fine, I think they just verified that it was on an walked out, we weren't there. The second time they didn't even show up. I'm frustrated because we can't get it below 80 until 10PM or so and our bill is up significantly.

I realize we are in the worst situation as far as heat goes, but a 42% increase seems like a lot, even given the increased heat. Any thoughts on if it is really that much hotter or is my unit weak?
My June '11 KWh was 65% higher than June '10. July statement should be here next week.

Very late evening or super early morning.

x2 on this. I have no idea why it happened, but the comparison was not even close.

My upstairs was utilized more this June which accounts for a small portion, but the rest is just because June was the hottest month on record in North Texas.

Ours has been around $180-$200. That's with it being at 72 degrees 24/7. Hopefully it won't be much more this month.

I'd pop an aneurysm if I opened that bill! August water ran us almost $300 last year, and that's what I'm trying to prep myself for this year.

Damn! Y'all have more trees offering shade over your house than we do.

I'm also a pretty serious light nazi, though.

Yeah-we have a ton of trees-that has to be the ONLY reason. The house was built in 1961, it has almost ZERO insulation and there are cracks from the windows and doors everywhere. We do have storm/double pane windows, though. Oh, and it's 2000 sq.ft. and I we are not very diligent about lights. lol

230 this last bill, i'm not looking foward to the next one.

I need more trees and better insulation. When i can see the ceiling rafters and drywall in spots i know ive got work to do.
