black FTW
I'm just not one to go with something I don't know everything about especially when I'm laying out this amount in cash....the blue car isn't slow by any means, and could just as easily be opened up to the same level the black one is, if I decide I want that....with the black one I have no idea how long it's been opened up like that. BTW - I wasn't putting a dig on black cars...I think on the right car its an awsome look, but I live a good ways outside of the city in a dustball....so black just hasn't worked well for me in the past.
Originally posted by Hobie View PostBlack one may have high dollar HREs, but in that pic the fitment looks "off", car looks like it's missing something with the front, skirts, and no wing. Stance looks ass-low too. Needs a dent fixed, may have been hit, and no history. Makes me think the 2nd owner bought random mods off a forum that weren't specifically for that model and likely didn't take the best care of the car. Maybe added the c4s front cover when the rear got dinged up. I would pass on that one, just my .02
To be honest my cell pic doesn't do it justice...it's still a nice car, and in person appears it actually was cared for, I think the difference is that it was likely someones daily driver, where the blue one has never been a daily for the 1st owner or the current one. The car has no accident history (which I know doesn't always tell the whole story) but up on the lift I couldn't see any indication that it had been in a collision either. They definatley added the C4S front cover at some point, which I do like more than the standard C2 bumper, and to me it looks as though maybe it was already painted when it went on...like maybe he found a factory black one used somewhere, b/c the paint quality is good and actually matches the rest of the car...but it still has about the number of rock chips you'd expect on a 9-year old car. The rear bumper isn't bad, but up close it doesn't have the same paint texture...a little orange-peel. Remember the rear wing on these auto-activate at 70mph....or by flip of a switch....but I'd imagine you're talking about something like a static GT3 wing on it with the other stuff. ?

Originally posted by GrayStangGT View PostGo for the blue one, sounds like it had 2 owners that really cared about the car. I would be interested to see pics of the interior, because I have yet to see a blue interior I like.

Well, we all consider "junk" differently I guess
Anyways, goodluck!

The blue one looks nice Jason. Im thinking about getting a 996 here in a yr or two and retire my 964 from being my daily. I cant believe the 996s are priced so reasonably considering they are newer than my 91 targa. I also wont buy a black one again. When its clean it looks awesome. Its just hard keeping it that clean driving it 100 miles a day round trip to work1997 viper gts

My vote's for the blue one. No history on the black one could mean it's a well kept badass machine, or ran the piss out of to enjoy the modifications, by an owner that doesn't give a flip.
I have never had a car that I cared so much for to keep "documentation," but I still keep every reciept, at least enough to show the potential new owner that the maintenance has been done. The fact that there's NO documentation is a red flag to me. I'm the worst when keeping reciepts, but car stuff gets filed, regardless.
Not to spend your money, but I'm sold on the blue one. Just curious, and I apologize if it has been mentioned, but what's the mileage on each?
30k hard miles is alot different than 60k old couple daily driven miles.
