That works for me, Brent. Jen, I think you and I should get to know each other a little better.

    • Jen, I don't know you, but it's probably for the best. For your sake.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

When Smells Like Teen Spirit debuted on the radio it was extremely different yet anyone who liked rock music could relate. It's the same with the band Tool. Not sure if you are a fan, but their sound is very unique, much like Nirvana's sound was unique at the time. They have been around now for 20+ years and have fans of all ages. That's more than marketing IMO.
Tool knows how to use more than three chords.

It's a sad fact of our generation. True talent is few and far between, and the true artists get shoved to the wayside for more marketable ass clowns like Kesha and Shittney Spears. There are so many amazing musicians that have much more merit but never make it because there is no place for them on top 40 radio.

          • Ah, but it's not how many chords you know. It's how you use them that counts.

You can't compare Tool and Nirvana. Tool had much more depth and artistry, whereas Nirvana suited a purpose for a brief moment.

              • Only comparing the fact that they are both unique and audiences ate their music up.
I had the privilege of seeing Nirvana play at Trees before they became insanely popular. Got to see Cobain get his ass beat by one of the Trees staff that had a hard on for keeping people off the stage. Quite funny. Point being is back then people were amazed at their sound and there was no real marketing involved for them at that point.

I've seen the videos of that incident played on MTV, way back when they actually still played about 50% music.

lol @ this thread. Not a single person even talking about Winehouse any more.

                              • This is the pic that really shows the differance...she was a good looking young lady. I don't think I have ever heard her music or know much about her, but rip. Ever ask yourself why this happens to people who are in the entertainment industry. It human nature..place yourself in that enviroment, with the money, drugs, partying...and then surround yourself with only people who say "yes". 90 percent of the people posting in this thread would be strung out
