Meh, I don't think so. He built that gateway and lead the Seattle charge through it, completely changing music. Mediocre implies average, and it takes more than average to do it, even if he simply exploited being in the right place at the right time. People who are in the right place in the right time are rarely there by some unforeseen accident.
