Before I brought my mothers car to her she was renting a car a 1k a week up here. Then we had to take the 2 hour trip to Newark Airport (which is only 32miles from us) to return it.. I recommended taxi but it would cost the same or more once you figure trains and as much commute as we do in to town for hospital.

Hell we even went as far (recently) to get an express pass/toll tag..
278 to the Verrazano/Goethals Bridge is the only way I'd ever go to Newark.....if I wanted to go to Newark in the first place. 45 minutes to an hour tops all day.

I drive tractors through Manhattan every other week (was just there Monday/Tuesday). Fucking cabby's can suck it.

honestly i have no idea how people can afford to live in that city! it seems like it would nickel and dime you death and screw living new jersey

          *expensive shitty apartments
          *outrageous cab fares
*having to walk amongst a bunch of assholes everywhere you go

          no thanks
Buddy of mine pays 2200/mo for 500ish sq feet in Manhattan. He does have a kitchen and a bathroom, but living/bedroom is just one room.

For him, the money he saves in gas/tolls/car payment/insurance is used for the more expensive place. But again, he's in Manhattan, and it's extremely pricey, but it's only a 10 min subway ride, or a 30 min walk from his work to his place.

Most of the people I met in NYC were cool, and the neighborhood bars we hit up were cool too. But we didn't go anywhere touristy, just his neighborhood joints.

NY and SF are fucking retarded. My rent for a 550 sq foot place in Nob Hill in SF was $4500 a month plus $600 a month for a parking space.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Granted it's expensive but you are painting it worse than it is. We lived in a nice condo with hardwood floors off of Van Ness and Golden gate that was bigger than that for $2000.

The place I'm referring to was in the most expensive part of the city, I'll give you that. It's still insane here though. I'm at Geary and Arguello right now and our 1650 sq foot place (one floor of a 4 story building) would list for $850k right now without a parking space.
