Document the truck number and plate number and location

document the name of the company and phone number if posted

contact company for insurance information or offer to settle sans the insurance so their rates don't increase.

I think he is asking how can you prove your case?

It's one word against another and the police won't respond if there's not an accident...sometimes they won't even respond to an accident unless there are injuries reported.

This isn't the world of big brother watching anymore.... it's a world of little snitch with all the cell phones and other recording devices we ALL have ... something tells me you could photograph, video tape, or something showing you were in proximity to the vehicle you proclaim to have received damages from.

Sure, you can take a picture but how do you prove it was a rock from that truck that cracked your windshield?

I'm not an attorney, but all I can tell you is that when someone actually goes through that much trouble, it's usually legit and gets taken care of fairly easily

I had an unmark semi sideswipe me in OKC. I was going at my max speed of a wopping 64 miles mph! And he was probably rolling 73+ but he was hauling ass. I wasn't able to get shit. He destroyed my drivers side mirror. Lucky my company is cool and didn't give a fuck. But I'm sure the faggot that sideswiped me has a nice hole/dent in the side of his 53 foot van.

This is what I was wondering. I know Dallas and alot of other PDs won't respond to accidents unless there is injury or if it's in a dangerous (high traffic) area, and there is a disabled vehicle or two.

That's exactly it. It's your word against theirs. And they can, and likely do tell motorists to get fucked, all due to their signs or not being able to prove it.

You can tell them that you filled out a state blue form listing them as a party in an accident or you can tell 911 that it is a hit and run accident. I don't know of a single department that refuses to work those.

Claiming a hit and run over rocks or debris flying out of a truck seems pretty petty to me. I wouldn't want to waste an officer's time over something silly like that.

I'd rather do that than go to the projects over another momma baby daddy drama.

Can't you do selective responding or something? Both seem like a PITA to me.

How do they prove it wasn't? Like said before, you document location, time, truck # etc. This at least gives you something to build a case on.

If they tell you to go fuck yourself, then you have an attorney send them a letter and go from there...

Isn't there a law for "unsecured load" or something?
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson, 1776

                                Unfortunately, no.
