When did beat-downs for narcissism and stupidity go out of fashion?

If we're in a place where it's cool for the kids to run around and kick a ball or shoot some hoops, I'll tell the kids to go play but not if I see a bunch of kids acting like little fuckers out there.

He certainly does not go with us if we are going somewhere really nice. However, I know that he would be on his best behavior...He loves to eat, lol. One thing we stated when he was little was taking his own portable highchair whereever we went. When he was old enough to eat with us, that is where he was, he didn't get up and run every where. He didn't cry and if he did I immediately left with him. I don't want to be interrupted by someone's child throwing a fit...or just having a bad day. I want to enjoy myself....which is why we did not take him to the movies until he was around 4 or so. It's just rude to do otherwise.
We took him to the Riata in Alpine when he was 5. He told the waitress when he ordered that he wanted a 16oz ribeye with lots of marbling (and yes, he used that term), medium rare, mushrooms on top, mashed potatoes and green beans. She just kept eyeing his daddy and me like we were nuts. He did not eat the whole thing, but he put a hurtin on it. The chef came out in his full get-up wanting to see this little kid who knew how to order a steak.Originally posted by VertnutI'd run my junk through a waffle iron, if it makes you more "comfortable". Originally posted by SEB View PostI think more places need to do this. I cant stand paying good money for a meal with some kid screaming. Hell the other day I was at Taco Casa & this kid starts screaming at the table next to me. I got up & moved to another table. Of course its some white trash chick & she starts mouthing me & my GF cause we moved. We both just ignore her & try to finish out meal. But she keeps going on & on. We both still dont say anything just ignore her. She leaves after BITCHING OF COURSE & coming up to the table & saying some choice words to us.
I wanted to say something & it took everything in me not to. But she was one of those woman who think they can stand up to a man & I could tell it. So im thinking the high road paid off.
Point is. People dont control their kids & dont care if it bothers the people around them.
I have no issue with a place not wanting kids in it. There are plenty of other places more than willing to take our money for a meal. I don't even have a bratty kid and I'm not offended by it. If they want to turn away business, thats on them. Families tend to the most loyal return customers because kids tend to be picky eaters and eat the same things repeatedly.
My little girl will be 3 next month and she is never that kid you hear screaming in the grocery store or other public places. She has such a laid back disposition that we constantly get compliments on her good behavior. I'd like to take credit for it, but I don't think I honestly can, it's just the way she is, just a chill little girl.

As a father of 4, I have no problem with this whatsoever. In fact, I would definitely go there with my wife for one of our date nights. We have date nights to get away from screaming kids - not to go somewhere else and listen to yours.
When it's time to go out to eat, we always try to pick a place that is kid friendly, or at the very least, somewhere with a lot of background noise (Chilis, etc). My kids are very well behaved and very rarely create a problem in a restaurant. That said, 4 kids create a certain level of noise and other people shouldn't have to be disturbed by them.
It boils down to common courtesy and how the majority of people are lacking any of it.- Darrell
