I will have no issues paying a little more as long as they put that extra cost towards quicker release dates on new movies/shows.

This is somewhat unrelated but a good article I read a few days ago:

I use the streaming portion mainly for kid's cartoons and so on (although i just finished a 26-episode bender of Sons of Anarchy), so I'm not canceling that.
I use the DVD service simply to convert the movies to m4v and import to iTunes so I can watch movies while traveling. Would downloading torrents be cheaper? Of course, but I don't feel like fucking with it. Popping a DVD in, starting the conversion, and walking away is just too easy.
So, I'm not canceling either one. Even at $16/mo, it's still a steal but it's frustrating to see the price raised when the service hasn't improved. If they would improve the streaming selection to come anywhere close to what's available on DVD, I'd have no problem paying the extra.- Darrell

I'm currently on the $30 with four bluray movies at a time and streaming.Originally posted by talismanI wonder if there will be a new character that specializes in bjj and passive agressive comebacks?Originally posted by AdamLXIf there was, I wouldn't pick it because it would probably just keep leaving the game and then coming back like nothing happened.Originally posted by BroncojohnnyBecause fuck you, that's whyOriginally posted by 80coupenice dick, Idrivea4bangerOriginally posted by Rick Modena......and idrivea4banger is a real person.Originally posted by JesterMan ive always wanted to smoke a bowl with you. I just received the email about the upcoming price change. Disappointing. I use it quite a bit, but it's still not something to bitch about when you're a frequent user. We stream and rent enough to more than justify the price. No late payment fees was the reason I started using Netflix to begin with. That what's stopped me from using brick & mortar stores all together.
I figured it was a matter of time for Netflix to issue a price hike. They feel justified since it was recently announced that Netflix is now responsible for most of the evening Internet traffic in North America.

Here's the e-mail I received. What's the big problem??? I don't see that big of a price change.
We are separating unlimited DVDs by mail and unlimited streaming into two separate plans to better reflect the costs of each. Now our members have a choice: a streaming only plan, a DVD only plan, or both.
Your current $32.99 a month membership for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs (including Blu-ray access) will be split into 2 distinct plans:
Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs (including Blu-ray), 4 out at-a-time (no streaming) for $26.99 a month
Your price for getting both of these plans will be $34.98 a month ($7.99 + $26.99). You don't need to do anything to continue your memberships for both unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs.
These prices will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011.Originally posted by talismanI wonder if there will be a new character that specializes in bjj and passive agressive comebacks?Originally posted by AdamLXIf there was, I wouldn't pick it because it would probably just keep leaving the game and then coming back like nothing happened.Originally posted by BroncojohnnyBecause fuck you, that's whyOriginally posted by 80coupenice dick, Idrivea4bangerOriginally posted by Rick Modena......and idrivea4banger is a real person.Originally posted by JesterMan ive always wanted to smoke a bowl with you. Ours was going up from $9.99 to $15.99 if we kept the one DVD out at a time plus unlimited streaming, but we chose to drop the DVD and just keep the streaming. It's going to go down to $7.99. No big deal.Token Split Tail

Fucking Redbox sucks too. The ones by my house never have more than 5 or 6 blu rays, and most are kid shit.
I wish the Blockbuster by my house didn't shut down.

Well your plan is only a 6% increase where as mine is a 60% increase and a 60% increase on a service I don't use on a regular basis is unacceptable in my book.

As has already been said (but I will reiterate out of pissyness), the only thing that keeps me with netflix was that it was less than ten dollars for one DVD unlimited and unlimited streaming. I would have no problem paying more or just switching to streaming if they would expand their streaming library and release things sooner. Now, I am going to drop streaming and go with two DVDs unlimited again (like I had since the very beginning).
They should keep the customer base they already have happy and grandfather in the pricing, and make new subscribers pay a price hike. I think the amount of people that are now going to drop netflix altogether will be staggering, and we will get another email in a couple months telling us their prices are going back down.

FWIW, I think it's bullshit too, but I'll still keep the 1-out, unlimited streaming plan.
FWIAW, I will notify Netflix that they are out of their goddamn gourd. How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?
