Its really funny how you have to have a piece of plastic saying you can drive, and all it is for is to make sure you paying the gubment their cheese to drive on a road you already pay taxes for.

Its like when your license is suspended or revoked or even as simple as its expired, you magically lose the ability to drive safely or something.

    Back on topic. FTP

You get thanks when you help folks. You pull over to assist someone fixing a tire and putting on their spare for them. You get Thanks.

You pull over to check on them being broke down and instead use it as an opportunity to find something to ticket them for. As if their day was not bad enough being on the side of the road with a flat, your going to give them a ticket. WORTHLESS way of treating citizens if you ask me.

You don't need an attorney to get an occupational.

What are you talking about? When have you ever heard of something like that happening?

Happened to my Uncle actually. He saw an elderly woman with a flat and pulled over to help her out. He was in the middle of changing the tire when the officer asked him for his ID and what he was doing here with this lady. She had explained she had a flat and he was nice enough to pull over to help. He did have a warrant out because he has walked the wrong path most of his life. But the fact that he is helping someone else out like that, and to just take him in is rediculous. It was an easy catch for him and he took it.

My friend was pulled over on the side of I-30 with a flat on the bridge between dalrock and Bass pro and a state trooper pulled up behind him and wanted to see his insurance, registration, license, Everything. Tried to ticket him for a tire not having enough tread. Its police like that, that make it hard to like any of them.

                      Oh boy, hypotheticals!

I dropped a balljoint on my SVO in DALWORTHINGTON GARDENS. While I was finishing up getting the pile of shit put back together a couple of Officers showed up to check me out. One of them noted I had an Inspection Sticker out. Didn't write a ticket. I was so furious at the car at that point, I'm really glad he didn't, because I might have ended up getting a ride to jail. I was livid before they even pulled up. It was 2 in the morning, and I'd been working on it for nearly eight hours, since SVO balljoints aren't replaceable and I had to rig the shit out of it to get it on the road again.

...then, same car, later date(go figure) dies on me in Pantego. Pantego PD pulls up, notes the fucking sticker again. Instead of giving me a ticket he gave me a ride to the parts store I worked at to get some stuff to fix it with again.

                      Fucking asshole cops.

I called the court and asked, and they told me they wouldn't deal with me and that I had to hire an attorney, and promptly hung up on me. So, I went down to the courthouse and talked to the judge. Frank Crowley courthouse if you're in Dallas County. Tell the judge you are there to apply for an occupational license, and she will give you some paperwork to fill out. Fill it out, go have it notarized, and bring it back to the judge. Judge will sign off, then you have to go downstairs and file it with the clerk and pay the fees. I believe all in all it was around $500. $385 for the occupational license, $15 license fee, and other miscellaneous bullshit and it was right around $500.

That said, you must have no outstanding tickets, warrants, or surcharges. Everything must be current, and I'd bring receipts or documentation showing that. Also, occupational is only good for 12 hours a day. They don't have to be consecutive hours, though. For instance, if you're in an office all day, you can take 2 hours to get to work, 2 for lunch, and use the rest as you see fit. But, you need to think about it, and have your schedule worked out when you go apply for it. You also need to know what counties you will be driving in. I got lucky, and she made approved mine being valid for the entire state.

i know i may come across as "don't like cop" kinda guy. but i really can't blame the cops that are out on the streets. they are doing what they are trained / told and paid to do. the real problem is with the local and state level that train and tell officers what to do. i know throughout my career i have had to some things i didn't agree with in order to provide for my family. most are in a catch 22, but then some are power happy assholes that instead of going hunting, they prefer to prey on citizens

I thought I would include that story so you guys had some point to reply and argue about it.

And you proved me right, you just fish for something to point out.
