    Wow..
Very cool story, and what a cool forum.

Guess steel is more plentiful than wood. Looks like railroad.

I finished reading it this morning and it was well worth the time spent. I couldn't imagine selling everything I own and traveling for 2 years across Asia and Africa. This congo story is only a fraction of their entire journey apparently.

I just spent the last 5 hours reading that- wow!

So cool, so eye opening and so many questions.

I have an all new respect for the Toyota land cruiser.

I just cannot imagine doing that without a firearm.

That guy has major balls for being able to get himself through all those situations, but what a dumbass for doing it without a winch and open diffs.

His explanation was decentish, but he also said the next build would have them. It's funny how a non- "car guy" packs/plans vs. Non car guy! I would have had TONS of spares... axles diffs, starter, alternator, filters, possibly a clutch, etc. And I would have sacrificed food variety, etc.

Still reading and I'm thinking we should transfer troops from Afghanistan to the Congo.

In the Past year I have worked in Nigeria, Angola, DRC, Gabon, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea.

It's very corrupt in West Africa. As myself and 4 other co workers were trying to leave Luanda. We got pulled into the customs office and held for about 2 hours trying to get bribes off of us.
