We debated it for a while and decided circumcision for our boy when he was born. I did think long and hard about the sexual implications I might be "taking" away from him, but the clean/disease thing won out. We just didn't want to worry about the cleaning at the end. We'd be responsible for that for many years...he's four now and doesn't wash his ears, when would he be responsible for his penis?

Ok, for all you folks that are in favor of male circumcision, how is it any better than cutting off a girl's clit? Seriously, please explain to me why you think female genital mutilation is bad, but it is ok to do it to a boy. If you had a daughter would you cut out her clit? Why or why not?

The nerve ending that is in the clitoris is the same one that is in the glans of the penis. Circumcision obviously doesn't remove the glans, however it does remove the foreskin that protects the glans, and keeps it from being desensitized.

I guess if it were a woman, it would be the difference between a girl having a large hood vs having a protruding clitoris. It would seem logical that the protected glans could be more sensitive than the one that has been rocking up against the kid's jockeys all day every day.

I'm cut, and I've heard plenty of girls talk about what they would or wouldn't do, but the chances of whether or not your kiddo has a cut costing him some pussy is pretty slim. Girls talk, but ultimately girls are down for a lot more than they want to admit to.

Circumcisions did not start because people thought it made them go blind... they have been going on hundreds of years longer before that theory came out. Also the counterargument about how we are now clean, and the risk for infection is less. Well the same could be said for the fact that the foreskin does create more problems than a circumcised penis. (primative argument because we no longer walk around naked and need protection to the head of our penis) Yes you can have a Dr. that does not perform it properly, but that's his mistake, not the circumcision.

Both sides are operating on their personal opinions... and you see guys getting them later in life, even in this thread. Do you see guys crying, wishing they still had their foreskin? Of course not. If you want to give your kids the choice, that's great. However don't bring your opinions and try and pass them on fact, when all you're doing is arguing how the other side has no "facts".

Do it or don't, it's your choice, but there are not a "ton of benefits" to staying uncircumcised that many are trying to pass off. I can see how it would scare a parent if they had a sub-par Dr. perform the task. Just the same way you wouldn't take your car back to jiffy lube if they fucked up your car. Both ways can provide a satisfactory lifestyle, and problems can incur with both... that is the ONLY FACT

Yes, there is an increased risk of cancer in uncircumcised men, but everything I can find doesn't make the distinction between cut or uncut men, and states that 1 in 100,000 men get it, or a .00001% chance to get it. To put things into perspective, according to the National Weather Service you are 10 times more likely (1/10,000, or .0001%) to be struck by lightning in your lifetime, estimated 80 years.

From what I remember the article claimed that women that regularly had sex with uncircumsized men were a lot more likely to get infections and even cancer in their plumbing. It was for the same reason as the men with their foreskins get diseases, bacterial build up. Even just a little of that buildup is enough to cause serious problems if it's transferred into the vagina.

That is enough reason to cut. Im 100% for circumcision. I have seen many performed when I was in nursing school working in the nursery. Kids dont cry much from the procedure. They numb up the penis and use special designed tools to do it. I think the Gomco clamp is the best because it offers a bell that goes over the head of the penis and when the foreskin is cut, the scalpel is cutting against the metal bell.

The procedures are not near as bad as you would think. The penis is locally anesthetized and the boy wont feel anything after 30sec-1min when it goes numb.
