Wish I can find a nice second gen 5-speed SHO. Seems all the mid 90's versions were ordered in automatic.

The motors can go on forever if properly taken care of....The only other issue with the Bonnies/GTP/Regals are the window motors felling but that's a pretty simple fix....If just looking for a daily then I would grab a Regal or Bonnie being most have been taken better care of and are very comfortable....
I like the SHOs also but they look like a bitch to work on......I like that they come with the 5 speed......Went to a dyno day with a group of them a long time back and have to same some where throwing down some HP.....

No, mod talk is good. I can never leave well enough alone. Should I get a Bonnie/GTP/GS then its a 98% chance they would at least get a tune and a 3.25" SC pulley.
If I get a SHO then it would get an exhaust.
There is a really nice 1993 blue five speed SHO in Houston I think I can get for $2000 ish. Love the color and the fact its loaded.
The other car is a 2001 SSEi with 140k on it. Maroon outside and tan inside. Car looks like new but I dont think I can get it for less then $2800.
Third car is a 88 TBird TC. Five speed, red, 140k on it but fresh turbo, engine and trans. Car is clean and fully optioned too. Right around $2300
I like all three but the SSEi has a slight lead due to the nicer interior and more features plus has the most HP.Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

.
If you put a tune/3.25 pulley on any of them there with be a 98% chance you will be replacing chipped pistons. That is unless you add the additional MODS to support the 3.25 pulley. Those being tune, intake, U-bend delete, exhaust,3 inch downpipe colder plugs, headers and IMO an intercooler.
Of course all cars act differant to MODs but above is pretty much a standard for MODs needed to run a 3.25 pulley.
I would say that in the Tx heat that a full size IC is one of the best MODs to have. Then there are no worried about KR when the temps get 100* and you wanna romp on the car. But even with a IC you still need the intake/exhasut MODS to get the air in and then back out....

I just realized after what you said about the intercooler that they dont come intercooled from the factory. Thats a big turn off. Our heat with a non intercooled blown motor is shitty. No way I am gonna spend $2500 on an intercooler. Dont even wanna spend $400 on a meth kit.
That may have just knocked the blown GMs out of the running.Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

Whats the U bend delete?
a U bend delete is where the manifolds meet and come down to the first Cat, there is a pinch in the exhuast pipe where the O2 sensor is, it makes a kind of "u" shape, so lots of guys go to an exhaust shop and have some straight pipe welded in place of the "u"
I wouldn't say it yields a huge amount but I guess every little bit helps...
You can buy coated long tubes for the GTPs for less than 2 bills, and back from that just have a muffler shop weld in a short straight pipe for the u-bend back to the cat-back. That plus a 3.5 pulley, a CAI, cooler plugs, and a tune, and you should be well into the 14's...not bad for a 3700 lb sedan...
Add a 100 shot of nitrous and be deep into the 13's--Marcus

my 91 sho with just subframe bushings, 11.6" brakes, 225/50/16 tires and new monroe sensa tracs is enough to get me into trouble.
I live in east texas and the roads are like nurburing. The taurus is just as fast as my 300zx on aftermarket suspension in the corners.
on the highway the SHO motor pulls to 130+ relatively quickly.
