Yeah, the reviews seem to be mixed depending on which island and resort. Unfortunately, I'm restricted to USVI for my choices. Which is why I'm asking for first hand experience here.

Been to St. Lucia, St. Marteen, and St. Thomas. All of them were great. I would say St. Thomas or Lucia would be more laid back.

I've been to St. Thomas 3 times while in the service and I've found the place to be dirty, crappy beaches, and in general a rough crowd.... however there are those that swear by the place if you get out of "town" so to speak.


Out of St. Thomas\John\Croix, I would say St. Croix is your best bet if you are just looking to lounge around a nice beach, get drunk, and do some lite shopping...
