Is there a smaller town nearby with a DMV? I remember I went to the Fort Worth DMV for a license renewal and it was to be a 5 hour wait. So I drove up to Lake Worth (it was smaller then) to it's DMV office and was in and out in 30 minutes.

Well i tried the ones in the metroplex, then ended up going to the one in denton and it had the lowest wait time- albeit still multiple hours wait.

I went to the Plano one a few times and what a zoo. Never do that again.

My son, Jeff, told me to go to the one in Rockwall when my wife had to get her license renewed. Two people ahead of us when we got there. We had to wait a total of 10 minutes from the time we walked in until the time we left!

I just went through this and was told it was because highschool was out. The lines I saw were like 80% little shit heads. So I finally went to Sherman after a few hours at the McKinney location. Much better!

Drivers license renewal online with Texas DPS - no waiting, 2 minutes to complete transaction for $25.

+1. Only issue is that my picture was taken when I was 18 and I have gained 50lbs since then. Still looks like me though, so no reason to go over to the DMV.

I agree, but unfortunately you can't use it every time you renew. You have to physically go to the DMV something like every 3rd or 4th time you renew.

Makes me glad that I have a 6 year license.
