The cop speeding is irrelevant to what speed I was accused of driving.

She was sitting outside in the sun and I said goodbye and locked the back door out of habit without thinking about it. No way to get over the fence for her, so she was trapped in the backyard and I was trying to get home to let her in. Story is not any more interesting than that for why she was out there.

or maybe subconsciously you were thinking something different and you acted upon it without realizing it. because I have a habit of locking people out of the house also.

I agreed to pay a fine to avoid the costs of contesting it, but the judge wasn't interested in showing compassion to keep it off my record and letting me pay a big fine with probation. That was his choice and my choice is to fight the ticket at this point as that is my only choice to try to keep it off my record.

My thoughts:

When you go to court with your, "but I have an excuse!", while people get paid their $6 a day and listen to how your brand new C6 Corvette is safer to drive at 97mph then a Police car tasked with catching up to you ... they will have no sympathy.

That being said, any lawyer worth his salt will at least get you deferred.

This thread has me laughing more and more on every reply. I would just about bet a paycheck on the fact that EVERYONE replying in it has gone at LEAST 120 or better on a highway in Texas at one point or another...driving cars that are FAR worse handling than a Crown Vic...like Fox bodies with skinnies up front and no sway bar? Keep up the humor all of you saints.
To the OP....glad your rich and can afford a ZR1.....but being rich and driving that ZR1 on a public road at 90anything is just BEGGING to be pulled over by a cop who makes 40 grand a year and barely makes his house payments. Suck it up man....you got busted....go cry on the ZR1 board to all the other rich people who feel like you do....maybe they can give you a good attorney. I got popped by a state trooper in my T/A once going 125 in a 65...but for some reason being polite to him made him write it for 80. I was sure I was going to jail.

Thanks for all the comments (well, most of them anyway, haha). I have a call into a few attorneys and based on what they tell me, I will have them try to get me deferred. If they tell me it's not possible, then I will call the Lewisville Court up in the next week or two and tell them that I will plead guilty and pay the fine and just hope it doesn't mess up my driving record/insurance rates too bad.

Sorry, this thread went wheel's off a little bit, but that is what makes DFWM exciting to visit.
