  • Lewisville: Need a good traffic attorney

Got a 97 in a 70 on 121 and I just met with the judge this morning and he refused to give me deferred disposition and said my only option was to plead not guilty and take my chances or plead guilty and have it go on my record.

So, I pled not guilty and requested a jury trial. Cop was shooting from an onramp onto a group of cars and picked out my Vette as the one that was supposedly going 97mph. He then proceeds to drive up to 120mph (cop car camera shows this as he showed me) to run me down.

So, I need an attorney who can get me out of this or at least plead down to probation. I will play whatever fine is necessary, but cannot have it go on my record.

So, need an awesome traffic attorney for Lewisville and any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. The reason I was driving 97 in a 70 (supposedly) is I accidently locked my wife out of the house and in the backyard. She is prone to panic attacks and has brain cancer. So, she started yelling for help and a neighbor came over with a glass of water and a cell phone which she used to call me. Neighbor offered to get a ladder to help her get out of the backyard, but she was afraid to crawl over the fence. Hence, the stress and near panic in my wife's voice had me turn around and hurry home. Judge didn't give a crap about my extenuating circumstance. Nice guy.

Sounds like to me, you got caught and time to pay up! Chances are he was using a laser meaning he aimed it right at you. No chance he hit another car. And by your reasoning it was you going 97 anyhow. What does him having to go 120mph have anything to do with you speeding? Are you saying he should have just let you go since you were going so fast?

Do you think that its safer for the public to go 120 in a 70 in a crown vic, or 97 in a 70 in a corvette?

I think there should be some compassion for extenuating circumstances, which from the end of his post, it sounds like he had.

He wasn't using a laser, he was spraying the group of cars and he told me that his radar can pick out the fastest speed and then he uses visual determination to "figure out" which car is the one going the fastest.

I never said I was going 97, I think I was speeding, but not sure it was 97mph and I have no way of knowing it was me doing the 97. Probable cause, reasonable doubt, Casey Anthony, blah, blah. That is my story.

So, do you know a traffic attorney or not?

Exactly, the judge had zero compassion for the extenuating circumstances, so I want the best attorney to get me out of this on a technicality (calibrated radar, judgement on picking fastest car out of line-up, not following police department protocol to chase down a car at 120+mph.

The only compassion you would get going 97 in a 70 is if you are in a medical emergency inside of your car itself. You know how many stories you hear a day from people? 99.9% of them are not true. So who do you believe. If someone showed me a text or something of that nature I may consider letting them go. But 27mph over the limit? Come on.

So, does OP need to get cellphone records to back his claim? Even if he did, would it make a difference? I think not.

It was SUPPOSEDLY 27 over on 121 southbound toll road...i.e. 3-4 lanes each direction, divided highway, glass smooth in a 638hp Corvette that was at 5% throttle. Yeah, I was just going crazy.

Again, not even sure I was going that fast and I'd like the officer to prove to the jury that he could 100% identify my vehicle out of the group of cars he sprayed with radar or did he just pick it out because it was a Vette? When was the last time his radar was calibrated? I want him to answer those questions and whatever other questions a good attorney can dig up.

If the jury finds me guilty, then I will pay the fine, have it go on my record, and move on with my life. Otherwise, I want to do whatever I can to keep it off my record. That is what I need a good attorney.

This honestly has to be a joke. Is it? A 2 year old can pick out the fastest car out of a pack. Let alone someone who does it daily. And when you are going 97 in a 70 you will look like a rocket taking off compared to everyone else.

My professional opinon is that you should just pay the ticket and go on with your life. at 27 mph over the speed limit no judge/jury will side with you. Since nobody was actually dying there was no legit reason for you to be going that fast. No attorney will want to mess with this as it is not worth the effort.

I am in no way an attorney, just offering my professional opinon and for you to STOP BREAKING THE LAW ASSHOLE!!

That would be something he would need to get for a jury like he wants. I have had people tell me, "my dad just died I am trying to get home to my family". Then show me their phone where they got texts asking how they are holding up ect. That is what I am talking about.

If a judge has it out for you sometimes even a good lawyer can't get you off. My sister got caught doing 95 in the mach 1 and if it wasn't for her attorney being good friends with the DA and skirting around the judge she would have been out of luck.

Sounds like you were speeding, admitted it, and now you need to just pay up. Im sure every person with a speeding ticket had a reason to speed. Regardless, they still made the decision to do so. And you say you WERE speeding, but don't know if it was 97 or not... so it could have been say 103? 105?

Quit making excuses, quit wasting my tax dollars with your bullshit jury trial, quit trying to find someone to get you off the hook for something you knowingly did (rather you felt you had a reason or not), and quit breaking the law asshole!
