Texas doesn't use food stamps or vouchers anymore, instead they give people a WIC (called Lone Star in Texas) card. It's free money for food for people that live off of the government's tit. In the old days they actually used food stamps and usually went through special lanes, now they hold up everyone else and usually blame the cashier when it doesn't work.

WIC and Lone Star card (food stamps) are different programs. WIC stands for Women, Infants, and Children. It supplies certain foods and drinks to woman that are pregnant, nursing, and/or have small children. WIC specifies what exactly they get (1 bag of beans, 1 can of apple juice, 1 gallon of milk, etc). I probably got some small details wrong that someone will research and nit pick about but that's what I remember from working in a grocery store years ago.
