I thought that too, but after reading the link that Yale posted, I'm not so sure. There is plenty of documentation that the road existed well before the parcel was split, so at this point I think that the right lawyer would be able to force access. From what it's saying, you cannot legally land lock a property that previously had access, and I'd imagine that those laws exist for situations just like this one.

I don't think that Trump intends to try and prevent access, that's unecessary lawyer fees. His primary intention is to de-value the property so that he can pick it up at a little over 3% of it's original value. Hell, even if he ups his offer to $10M, he's paying 10 cents on the dollar.

I was watching some msnbc show about trump a while back and he did the same thing to an estate in Florida. They wouldn't sell him the house for what he wanted to give, so he bought all the beach front the house sat on eliminating all the value of it being a beach front property. They ended up selling him the house for a fraction of his original offer lol.

I drove limos back in the mid 90's and John Kluge was one of my favorite clients. he would come in at Millionaire in his bad ass Gulfstream jet, then stay at the Harvey hotel at 635 and 75, across from S&A, his co. He was real cool to talk to and always initiated conversation with me every time I picked him up. he invited me to check out his new jet and it was awesome on the inside, had a dark cherry wood bar and itialian leather swivel seats, very plush aircraft. he asked me one day if I was in college and I was embarassed to tell him no, he was after all one of the richest men. He said "don't go at your age, wait until later, have fun and chase women now, college will always be there, but you won't get any younger". I thought it was cool he made me feel at ease and not embarrassed. He was a great man.

I'd like to think that I would be the same in his situation, though I'll probably never know. At that point in life, wealth isn't a concern on a personal level, unless you want it to be. In a business sense you certainly have to make the right decisions, but on a personal level we all put our jeans one a leg at a time. It's just that some get to do so at 30k feet in their own jet.
