If they let you leave then they were at their bottom most likely. If you want to negotiate start at msrp. They're taking the headache out of it imo. If they don't call Monday and offer anything lower, then id buy it. Contrary to popular belief, not every dealer is out to fuck people. I Know when I was selling we would usually give the lowest price we could up front. They were more concerned with volume and selling cars to people who would bring them to us for service. They're taking a lot off. They're allowed to make a little money....its a business not a charity. Stop being greedy.

One more thing not mentioned here. Wait until the last few days of the month. Things loosen then usually, depending on how sales are going.

What is invoice price for dealers? I've had 2 different dealerships tell me with the preferred pricing, they're barely above invoice. Is invoice what they have into the truck or just the lowest they could take and still make X amount of money?

Check out edmunds.com and you can get an estimate invoice and a TMV price which is an estimate of waht others are paying for the same vehicle.

Have you sent an e-mail to four or five dealers near you asking for their price on _____ truck? You'll get within $3-400 of what they pay for it...

Classic GMC is showing $27,888 on their Texas Edition Crew Cabs. Tell them to fuck their selves on any add on addendums, you do not have to pay that shit. They charge you $300 for a $99 tint job, $500 for a shitty $79 drop in liner, $250 for $15 tape pin stripe.....FUCK THAT!!!

Last new car I bought I haggled with one dealership (Dallas Dodge) for quite a while, got down there and they tried to screw me. Basically baited me with one price get there and try to pull out another figure. Finance manager tried to pull the "I'm sorry your credit is not as good as we thought". I pulled out the report Randall Noe pulled on me and my wife and asked how it dropped from 750 to a shitty score in a few hours.

Any way they called me the next day and tried to get me back down there. I told them to fax me the bid sheet with the price on it, she said they could not do it but would fax to my Credit Union. I gave her my fax number, received it, changed the price lower by $2500 and took that sheet to Randall Noe and they beat it by an additional $500.....

Everyone assumes the mark up on a new vehicle is huge. Every unit is different, for example the difference in the dealer cost to msrp on a new ford fiesta is $440. Trucks can vary quite a bit as the mark up depends on rebates, dealer cash etc. The x plan etc has a set dealer mark up that is usually not unreasonable. See if the dealer will give you a copy of the invoice and you can see exactly what the numbers are. Some dealers like the one east of Dallas will give you a seemingly great deal but then you have to buy the Texas trailer tow package or some other nonsense addition that is actually part of the base package. In addition, I don't know how anyone could possibly choose a GM 1500 over a ford 150!

lol. If I could get out from under my Dodge and break even, we'd talk. But I havent had it long enough yet.

I do like the new Fords tho.
