Overpayment shouldn't be a problem at all, unless you don't manage your financences, and live paycheck to paycheck. If live paycheck to paycheck, you should be managing your finances even more closely than when having a decent savings account, because there is always the possibility of over-drafting, aside from spending money that was never yours.

I've had DD for oner a decade now, and no issues to speak of, I've got a debit/credit card if I need cash, and rarely have to make an extra trip to get it.

I was talking to a friend the other day about this, and due to a nasty divorce and garnishment from her ex-husbands medical bills, she can't get a bank account until that is legally resolved. She told me that rather than getting a paycheck, she has a debit card that the money is deposited on. I thought that was rather strange at first, but not a bad idea, as she doesn't have to go to th bank unless she wants cash without paying an ATM fee.

I've had DD from my employers (3) since it first became available in the mid 90's. It beats the heck out of making regular trips to the bank to wait in line when you have other things to do. I've never had a single problem with the system.

I was talking to the time frame. When I have had an over I just put in the bank and wait for it... Your friend is smart about it ATM fees suck!!!

Hell, I'd want them to take as long as possible to accrue interest. It does suck on the reverse though, having to wait a while to get money that you are owed. The same with returning high-ticket purchases that were paid by check, it takes the merchant forever to deposit the money back. If you had saved to buy that particular purchase, you are stuck waiting to get something else until the money comes back.

I am so glad to not be living check to check anymore, that shit sucks.

I haven't known anyone who gets a live check in years.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

No shit! Some places I have worked at even charged you a dollar or some small amount if you chose for a check in lieu of direct deposit...

FYI, if you use direct deposit your employer can legally perform a "reversal" on you payment for up to 5 business days after they pay you. My last employer did that to me which put that account negative one mortgage payment. Pay check was direct deposited at 7am. Paid the mortgage around noon. 4pm that day they did a "reversal". Awesome times ensued.

My employer REQUIRES a direct deposit. They will NOT issue you a paper check past 1 time.

If you do not supply them with a bank, routing number etc..... they will OPEN an account

at the bank of THEIR choosing for you!!! It is quite clear in the employee handbook.

With so many people working for them, they save millions on printing and processing this

                                way.
