For action, yes they are. Drawbacks to plasma are that plasma TV's are heavier and produce more heat. They also still have the potential for burn in where a permanent image gets burned into the screen. It's not as bad as it used to be but it's still something to consider.

Also plasmas have a glass screen and reflect lots of light, so you'll need to ensure you won't have a window without curtains in the reflection.

LCD seems to blur out reflections a bit...

I got a 120 hrz 1080p Sammy and I'm not impressed with the 120hrz. Also, the black sucks on my LCD.

Cool, thanks for some insight. God this harder than opening an IRA account. Lol. The sales are the thing that are drawing me to purchase one now. I just want one for gaming and movie watching. My buddy said when he first put in toy story for his kids to watch, he said the characters looked realistic. I've seen a few movies on his tv and the images blew my mind.

go to Star Power or some place with a decent display and setup similiar to your home living room and look at an LCD next to a Plasma. Once I did that I was sold on the Plasma. Ive got 2 Plasmas downstairs and an LCD upstairs and I rarely watch TV upstairs anymore- Plasma is so much better for action movies I watch and the sports as well.

i went with samsung 46 inch LED 120hrz with a 4,000,000:1 contrast!!! tv makes people look like 3d image...LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! lil more $$$$ but would never go back to a LCD thats for sure......next buy is a samsung 55 inch LED 240hrz with highest contrast i can find.
