600Hz LED? I thought only plasmas came in 600Hz.

My advice is to go look at them in the store and see if you can tell the difference between a 120Hz and 240Hz.

You should still see what you want before buying IMO. Don't buy it just cause it's on sale. Find out what works for you and then find a good price on it.

Well I've seen my buddys Samsung tv led/lcd and love how the images look. I see alot of 60hz, I'm trying to find a 120hz or 240hz. How much difference in quality is there from 60 to 120-240? Also does the brand matter? I still got a regular tv and I think its time for me to upgrade.

The # of Hertz is basically the number of times per second the screen refreshes. So a 240Hz TV will refresh twice as many times as a 120Hz TV. Theoretically that should mean that a 240Hz picture will look better for things that have lots of action like sports. But that doesn't mean your own eyes can perceive the difference.

That's why I'm saying go look at some TV's for yourself and see if you can actually tell a difference. If you can't then it's probably not worth the extra money. When you go look at TV's see if you can get them to show you different things. Not just the same DVD they have on repeat. You want to see movies, sports, even SD TV.

Brand definitely matters mostly because of the quality of the LCD screens they use. The Samsungs, Sonys, Panasonics, etc user a higher quality screen than a Dynex or Audiovox. I think some of the big names even get their screens from the same manufacturer. You also may see a difference between brands or even models from the same manufacturer because of different image processors inside the TV.

Not necessarily. Both have their good and bad characteristics. just depends on what you want to do with them.

The difference between my 55in led 240hz samsung and my buddy's 60hz 50in lcd samsung is HUGE.

For action, yes they are. Drawbacks to plasma are that plasma TV's are heavier and produce more heat. They also still have the potential for burn in where a permanent image gets burned into the screen. It's not as bad as it used to be but it's still something to consider.

Cool, thanks for some insight. God this harder than opening an IRA account. Lol. The sales are the thing that are drawing me to purchase one now. I just want one for gaming and movie watching. My buddy said when he first put in toy story for his kids to watch, he said the characters looked realistic. I've seen a few movies on his tv and the images blew my mind.
