A large portion of the new bay bridge in Commifornia has this tag stamped on it.

Supposedly the contractor was able to save hundreds of millions of dollars by having sections made in China and then shipped to Oakland.

No, nothing is. Remember what happened to I-10 during Katrina? Driving over the Atchafalaya Basin is enough for me, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atchafalaya_Basin_Bridge 18.2 miles.

Let's see how advanced that shit is in 10 years, the Chinese don't build anything to endure.

I've been there...have seen it being built and have ridden it. Have you? It's a nice system. I will admit I don't know how they inspect it. But you can't believe everything you read on the interwebz. Someone has to be inspecting it. They have a flawless safety record...

That wont last long without falling apart. They have absolutely no safety regulations over there. Just make it quick, make a lot of it, and send it out. You should see some of the oilfield equip we get from China, half of it is not to spec, and wrong at that. I dont think China knows what QA is.

I am pretty sure he is referring to the fact that a very large amount of the scrap steel and iron from the US is sold to China every year.

Instead of building quality it seems they build something quick and if it fucks up, they'll just take it down and rebuild.

Anyways, I think it's neat that they are trying out new things. Seems things are kind of stagnant right now, so new is good.

I do conceed that there may be some concerns about how long that safety record is going to last...
