Well, it was a total wash.
The stupid bitch of a tropical storm Arlene caused 7-10 foot seas and made it impossible for the 25'8" Triton to go out. We launched out of Port O'Conner and didn't even get to make it all the way out to sea before we started taking huge waves. The boat weighs over 9,000 loaded, and we went airborne at least once. We hit the next wave so hard that I lost my grip on the rigging and was slammed to the deck like a rag doll. Shortly after that we turned around and headed back.
Today was just as bad, as there was a small craft extreme advisory. So, we just cleaned up the boat and headed back.
Luckily one of the guys has a cabin in Seadrift, so the entire roadtrip (food, gas lodging, etc) only ran me $180.
We are planning on going out again when the seas are at 2'.
