They cut me from 1/2 way between my arm pit and elbow down 4" past the elbow. 4 years post op, I have about 90% strength in my hand. Specifically the little finger and outside of the next digit. (That is what the Ulnar nerve controls)
The ulnar nerve is your "funny bone" The tip of my little finger still tingles as it feels when it goes to "sleep". Doc says that that will never go away. Take care of it NOW do not wait until your fingers atrophy and curl up as mine did!!!!
