Matt is right - the article headline infers that the charge was "improper relationship with a student" as if that is an actual law on the books.

He's not saying that she wasnt arrested for "sexual assault of a child" - because she was.

If the headline was to be accurate, it would say "Teacher arrested for sexual assault of a child"

Holy fuck. Anyone with a modicum of comprehensive ability could figure this out. The headline is a description ... a sneak peak, a teaser.

If I killed my boss, the new story might say, "Man arrested for killing his boss," and later on state that I was charged with Murder.

You'd read that article and think, "killing a boss isn't an actual charge!!"?

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Believe it or not, there are people who would believe that the police actually arrested some teacher for having an inappropriate relationship.

Define "inappropriate". Is it inappropriate because of a law or company poilcy?

Hell, I could shoot at a fleeing felon and be totally legal, but still get fired because it is against departmental policy.

I'm pretty sure that killing someone has only one meaning.

But, please continue to be a jackass with the "Anyone with a modicum of comprehensive ability could figure this out" insults.

Being that she was charged with sexual assault of a child the student was obviously under age, but I was under the impression that a sexual relationship with a student is also against the law in Texas even if the student is over the age of consent.

Being that they are of age it's not a sex crime, so what would you call it?

Interesting, because the Dallas news disagrees, and it's a felony to boot.

Brittni Nicole Colleps, 27, of Arlington was charged with five felony counts of inappropriate relationship between a student and a teacher.

Actually I've been at a part time since 8. I checked the link, and I will have to admit that I've been out of the detective office since 1999. That was added in 2003 and amended in 2009.

I do wonder who got that bill passed, because any sexual offense prior to 2003 was covered by another statute. This one has it's own chapter.

I'm guessing that it had alot to do with the rise in publicized student/teacher shenanigans. For all the high school boys accross the nation though, I hope that there are alot more instances that go undiscovered.

You've been out of the detective office since 1999 but don't have a basic understanding of sexual offenses outlined under the Penal Code? Surely you guys get briefings about legislative changes every 2 years, amirite?
