It shows that I have $500 at some bank. I tried to claim it last year and after some paperwork and a lot of delay, they denied my claim for it. They said I wasn't able to prove that the account was mine, which is ridiculous because I'm the only Dewey M. Dalton, Jr. in the State of Texas and the bank's own records show that they owe it to me. What else should I have to show them??? I just gave up trying to fight them.

There MIGHT be a handling fee on this if it is not the Comptroller's Office. There are companies that do a database search for you and you file your claim through them to get it.

You can go directly through the Comptroller's Office yourself so that there is no middle man and fees. I'd make sure it is the Comptroller's Office first.
