    The law isn't to protect them, it's to protect others and property.
    This hits the nail on the head. I've worked several accidents in D/T FTW because of people darting out into the street.

    That said, I jaywalk all the time. I just did it all over downtown Ft Worth earlier this week. If you're stupid enough to get caught, you deserve a ticket.
    It's freakin' funny when I go downtown and someone starts to cross either not in a cross walk, or against the walk/don't walk standard and see my car. then they freeze and get that "oh shit" look on their face.




    One point about doing it at the courthouse, is that who goes to courthouses? People in trouble with the law. It makes for a good legal detention to find those that have outstanding warrants.
