Thankfully we have 2 units. The part that sucks is the house is 4 years old and the outside fan will not turn on. Probably just a capacitor but we will find out in the morning when there is more light.

Brand new house and we have had a bad water heater, leaky roof, electrical outlets stopped working, and now a bad AC. I thought newer houses were supposed to have less of these problems.

Our AC is hard wired on right now and in need of replacement. On Monday I was walking out of the house and into the garage to leave for the airport and discovered my hot water heater tank ruptured. Water heater was an easy fix, the AC we are waiting for a deal on a new one.

12 year old house I would say that both are due.

check the braker, we thought ours had gone out a couple of months ago and one of the last things we did before calling someone was check that breaker and thank God that was the problem

DR Horton. Talked to a neighbor and found out the people who installed the unit have it covered for 5 years. Since the house is only a few years old I want someone to go through the system to make sure nothing caused it.

DR Horton is not on my good side. After talking to the right people so far everything has been taken care of at no charge.

It's because AC units, water heaters, etc. are now nearly all made in Mexico from Chinese components.

It seems that everyone in my neighborhood has had to replace their AC unit except me. These houses are usually no more than 10 years old but the cheap ass units just don't last.

I think the only reason I haven't had to replace mine is because we almost never run the AC at night. My wife and I were raised in hot and humid areas, so this dry head doesn't bother us as much. We're comfortable with just a ceiling fan at night.

They replced my compressor the 2nd year we were in our home....come to find out it was the Whip, bad install left the wires exposed and eventually they arced causing the breaker to trip....$15 part that they wanted $245 to replace. always check the whip if the breaker trips often.

Unless you buy a very high end home they are just buying and installing the cheapest shit they can get when they build a house. My house is 6 years old and already had to replace the dishwasher, garbage disposer, and the AC is about to take a crap.

Well mine just hit 4 years old (Gibson outside unit) and was working juusttt fine until it was struck by lightning.

Had to replace capacitor, and the part that takes it from the BIG 240 wires down to smaller wires ( I have no idea what its called)

AC's never go out in the winter, because they aren't used, or don't have a major load on them when used.

During the hottest months when the AC runs almost 24/7 is when you're gonna see it break.

It's like saying, man my car only breaks down when I drive long trips...
