We looked into that first and there are a few shelters in town but none with a dachshund like we want.

And Petco here even does an adoption day once a month, there was no dachshunds there either.

They're bad apartment dogs because they are so yappy. Any little noise and they are barking like crazy. The breed was raised to be aggressive chasing rodents, gophers and shit like that.

As for being smart, I'll disagree with you on that one. Another thing, you have to watch their food, they will eat until they burst - no exaggeration.
