Windows password reset.

I have a friend that reset her Windows password due to an asshole looking over her shoulder, and now a month later she's moved and can't get the new password to work.

She's been quoted $150 to crack it open, but he can't ensure that she keeps the family pics on the laptop.

It's obviously not an easy fix, or why have a password, it's a netbook (no dvd), but there's gotta be a way to crack it without wiping the drive.

Move it to the PC forum eventually, but anybody here have some help?

I don't mind paying, but $150 seems steep to get into your own netbook.

That's why it's important to create a password hint when you set a password on an administrator account. That or use the create a password reset disk in Control Panel. This type of problem is easily avoidable.

I'm pretty sure some of the IT guys on here know some programs. I know some of my IT guys at work use them so ill try and remember to ask.

Anything will help. I find it totally frustrating trying to get into your own computer and you can't. Fortunately for me I can call the helpdesk and get on half a day later. Her's is a personal PC so no options.

you have to shutdown your computer and boot off a CD or USB disk to do the password reset.
