  • Difference from Dad/Father?

Discussion here at work about this....what is your take on the difference from a father and a dad? It's the same to me. But other people seem to think they do not mean the same.

Nope, they dont mean the same. Being a father is easy, just bang some chick then move on. Being a Dad is the hard part.

most people with absentee/sperm donor fathers will call them their "father"

most people whos dads played a big part in their lives will call them their "dad".

I don't have that problem, and I always thought father held more prestige than dad.

They don't call it Dad's Day.

^^^This. It has always been a way for me to differentiate between my biological father and my [step] DAD. I hate the term "step dad" because my DAD raised me and rightfully deserves full credit.

Obviously I am not the only person with this opinion, if the OP is having a debate about it at work.

Learn to read. the debate is people thinking the 2 words mean the same vs. the word having 2 meanings.

Father=sperm donor, guy that paid the bills. Dad=guy that taught me about life and gave me unconditional love, guided me.

I skipped the point that they don't mean the same and went straight to what I thought they meant personally by saying I think of it as the opposite of Lason and the reason why I thought so.
