Yea, I went off track with that statement. I confused the two for the time being.

You are an e-god. I bow down to your superiority.

I get what some of y'all are saying, but it just makes me think you're a bunch of cheesedicks.

Father, dad, old man, pops... It's all the same to me.

I know they are not the same. Father to me is more of a technical term or description, as some have said you can Father a child without being a dad.

For instance. My 8 yr old knows me as his dad and when he gets old enough to figure things out on his own he will learn I am not his father. He can go to his mom about that one. It won't change the fact that he may consider me his Father but most definitely won't change the dad part.

My kids called me yesterday for fathers day, I just hung up on them. I mean the oldest is 9 years old, seems like they'd move on and stop bugging me by now? Their mommas have already explained to them I dont like em, seems like the oldest one would figure out by now to stop calling me?

If that were true... wouldn't it be called happy dad's day. And also wouldn't the term be dead beat father. I think you got it backwards.

papa, dad, father, old man, they all mean the same.

I got it backwards but they all mean the same thing??

Its all in how you were raised and what you were taught. Obviously they both are the same thing in the dictionary.

Being a single mom child, I still call him my dad (pops, usually, but he's my dad to me), even though I only saw him every other weekend. He's always tried to give me all he could... Probably moreso, since he couldn't necessarily give me time. When I was a child, I was comfortable with the surroundings that I grew up in, and sometimes hated going to my dad's because he wouldn't let me get away with some of the shit that mom did. Now I wished I would have spent more ti,e with him. He's one of my best friends now and I couldn't ask for a better relationship with him. I never say "i love you," nor does he (it's a manly ego thing with us, I guess), but it's there in every hug we give and that says more than words.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

Two different points that I should not have put in the same reply.

Going by the common use of the words in "Father's day" and in "dead beat dad", you had it backwards.

I personally don't the there is a difference between the two.

                          Good dad= good father
                          bad dad=bad father

Agreed with the exception to, "Aye Papi ", which seems to have it's own seperate meaning.

You're just arguing semantics. Waste of time. On principle, a man is either a dad/father or a sperm donor. Simple as that.

I dunno, if a chick called me "father" in bed instead of "big daddy" I'd be a little freaked out.
