Discussion here at work about this....what is your take on the difference from a father and a dad? It's the same to me. But other people seem to think they do not mean the same.

most people with absentee/sperm donor fathers will call them their "father"
most people whos dads played a big part in their lives will call them their "dad".
^^^This. It has always been a way for me to differentiate between my biological father and my [step] DAD. I hate the term "step dad" because my DAD raised me and rightfully deserves full credit.
Learn to read. the debate is people thinking the 2 words mean the same vs. the word having 2 meanings.
I skipped the point that they don't mean the same and went straight to what I thought they meant personally by saying I think of it as the opposite of Lason and the reason why I thought so.
