  • Any hope to get a paid collection off credit report?

I'll save the long story, like a moron I paid a credit agency for a $70 medical bill that somehow didn't get paid during my move (I still don't think I ever got it, but that is neither here nor there). Any way, I ran a credit report and saw that and contacted the clinic that submitted it, they basically told me that I'd have to contact the CA to handle it. I contact them and they obviously want me to pay it, which I did ... Now on my credit report it shows it as paid. My beacon is still well over 700 but the damn electricity company I am switching to wanted a deposit after running my credit.

So obviously there system looks for any collections (paid or unpaid) and completely ignores all of my accounts that are 5-10 years old and all have never had one delinquent payment.

Anything I can do about this, God I feel like a moron for paying it if this $70 bill is going to follow me around for 7 years.

I had the same thing happen to me. I had a $137 balance on a medical bill that insurance did cover. Well I moved and never knew anything about it. They sent it strait to a collection agency. I paid it but afterwards I just keep disputing it, took a year but now it's gone.

    So dispute, dispute, dispute!!
You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

Talk to Brendon Posey. They have good success and are reasonable.

i just kept disputing them, and did not pay them.

After a few years, they eventually stopped responding to the disputes, and now they are gone.

Do you dispute with each of the companies? Any easy way to do all three?

You have to dispute with all 3 individually. Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian. That is if it is showing up on all 3.

*Edit you can dispute with the company rather but I've found you will get better results going the other way around.
