They were outside, in a similar situation to what I posted. They told the officers that they weren't needed, and went inside. Both of them. The police then knocked down the door, tazed the guy and took him to jail

This is minimalist information at best.

Did the husband intimidate the wife to say there was nothing going on? Did they refuse to answer any questions? Did he turn heel and go inside bringing her with him?

There are several non-verbal clues and nuances that could have told the officers that everything wasn't all right, contrary to what they were told.

I understand what you are saying, but if that was the case, probable cause would justify the entry, and there would be no need for the supreme court to make a ruling. Obviously this wasn't the case.

Understood, but that wsnt what you said. You said that we don't know the whole story. IE they had something that gave them probable cause to go in; intimidation, etc.

If my scenario stated above said I grabbed my wife firmly by the arm and took her in with me, saying that the police weren't needed, then entry would be assumed at that point. See what I'm saying?

It just won't pay to worry about it. As long as we can instill common sense into policing, there should be a reasonable amount of "in good faith" policing.

Trust me, I am very vocal at work, and it's pretty damn easy to tell right from wrong. I will keep working for the better as long as I wear the uniform, and it's down to 10 years and 8 months.

If someone snatches someone in like that, and it appears that the other person is in distress, you're damn right I'm going in, and I don't need this new ruling to justify it.
