1972 El Camino SS Pro Street Fully Restored, 1970 El Camino front grill was swapped in place of the 71-72 grill. The car is painted a stunning House of Colors Candy Green, Black SS stripes with 6 coats of clear, that make this car shine. The body itself retains of all the original sheet metal, and floor pans. Cowl SS hood. New emblems, lights, bumpers, and trims. Weld Draglite wheels. Brand new tires all around. Hoosier street tires on rear. The motor is a great running 350. Brand new water pump, temperature controlled electric fan, and brand new 4 row radiator. 700R4 tranny that shifts great. Exhaust system is Hooker Long Tubes, into Flow pro mufflers. It has a great rumble. The rear end is a ford 9" with a 3 link suspension, and coilovers. The ride is surprisingly well. Brans new fuel pump with a polished 10 gallon fuel cell in the bed. The bed has 2 nicked places, but I have touched them up. The interior is black, new dash pad, new carpet, new window and vent window crank handles, new headliner. The door pannels are original but in perfect shape. Auto Meter electric water and oil gauges. All original glass except for the windshield. Glass is mint. Clear blue TX title.
    $14,500

              I thought so...

OP, there is a 71 or 72 sitting off of I20 out west of Abilene for $6500 It looks OK from the highway but I haven't stopped to look close.

If you're looking for an elco I can stop and take a look while I'm going to Odessa tomorrow.

Yeah I've seen it at the Little Rd/20 car show a while back, def not worth 14g's. If I remember right, this thing has been on and off CL since '09 for around the same price lol.

I'm just doing some pricing to see what the '71-'72's go for right now and came across this one....again lol. A guy I work with said he would sell his '72 to me for $1000. He said it's a complete car with a decent body and little rust, so I'm going to take a look at it Sunday. As long as the car is solid and not a total wreck, does that sound reasonable to you? It has a running 305 in it now and he has the original 350 also. Thanks for offering to look at the one in Abilene man.

A friend of mine sold that car to the guy that 95Snake got it from about ~2-years ago....in his word's....he felt bad for taking $9000 from the guy he sold it to b/c it was pretty shoddy back then. Now I'm sure more stuff has been done to it by now, but when my buddy had it - it had a weezer assed SBC in it that couldn't get out of it's own way...I won't quote anyone, but I've seen this car referred to as "frame off restored" in a few places (it's changed hands a bit), and unless it's had a frame-off since it left my friends shop...that would be a lie. It did have freshened up suspension (bushings, body mounts, ball joints, etc)....but not hardly a "frame off" restoration.

The color is what really kills the value on this car...it tends to be a love-it or hate-it deal....and more folks seemed to fall into the latter category when Bob was trying to sell it. It's really loud and borderline ghetto in-person. That being said...if you like the color, it's not a bad quality spray job for a driver, so that may mean more....especially if it's something you are looking to keep and not worry about what it will bring later on. However, just be aware that it did tend to hurt it for resale before, and I suspect will be the case again in the future whenever it hits the market again. I guess a cool theme and color for the 80's....but pretty dated now-a-days. The car would probably do a lot better if it just had a mild BBC in it....it's something that I would expect to see any Sunday afternoon under the awnings at The Gut.

Beyond the color, what's a shame is that this car actually started life as a GMC Sprint, which made it a little more rare to begin with....if it was still wearing it's factory front clip and didn't have the ass-end all hacked out of it, it would be worth a bit more.

The color makes me feel it should be rolling on 13" wires and there should be a rack of hydraulic pumps in the bed, instead of the fuel cell.

With it being a Sprint instead of an El Camino, I think that would scare away a few buyers too. I've only ever seen it advertised as an El Camino. I know I'd be a little pissed if I was willing to buy and the guy breaks out a title that says GMC. The seller would be coming off some cash or keeping the car.

Besides, there's a 70 Chevelle/el Camino that could the correct front clip....

I knew something was a little odd about that car besides the color. There will always be a sucker out there.
