  • Gas VS Diesel Tanks...

Im looking to buy a 100g tank to mount on a trailer for carrying gasoline. Is there a difference between the high dollar tanks rated for gasoline vs the tanks that are for diesel (but say "Not for use with Gasoline")

Just curious if there is really a difference. I'd like something like this:

I prefer 500 20oz coke bottles in milk crates bungee strapped.

Ok, so no physical differences in tanks, just paperwork / certifications? You guys see any problem with me doing this? It will only see the road when I am going to fill it, other than that it will sit in a hangar at the airport.

Personally, I wouldn't do it man. Explosion point for gas vs diesel is exponentially greater and if by chance you were involved in an accident...
                Possibly very bad things.

                Just my .02

I think I read somewhere that when everyone went to the low sulfur diesel it brought the ignition point down closer to gasoline as well as increasing it's volatility.

As long as it's vented properly there shouldn't be a problem. I've got some yellow cans in the shop full of gasoline as well as some red ones with diesel in them.

Recycled Mcdonalds cups would be better.

I like this part of the description.

DOT approved for nonflammable fuels only

Guess I read wrong. Haven't had the chance to throw lit matches in cans of diesel recently.
