I get the feeling you'd be bitching if they kept saying "Miles Per Gallon" instead of "MPG" with the thought of, "Man, everyone knows what MPG means these days, why don't they just shorten it up?"

Doesn't bother me as much as people who say and type "mpg's..." or "rpm's..."

I can't stand people who say Rtv instead of "room temperature vulcanizing"; or USA instead of the united states of america

I was thinking they probably shorten it as a commercial only has X amount of time and they try to fit as much info as possible, but at the same time if they're saying www for a web address, I don't know.

www might be an attention getter to let people know to get ready to remember a url.

I did not realize that is what RTV was short for.

You know what really pisses me off are those people who can't take an extra second to say National Aeronautics & Space Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, or, now this one really chaps my ass, NIIOMTPLABOPARMBETZHELBETRABSBOMONIMONKONOTDTEKHST ROMONT instead of The laboratory for shuttering, reinforcement, concrete and ferroconcrete operations for composite-monolithic and monolithic constructions of the Department of the Technology of Building-assembly operations of the Scientific Research Institute of the Organization for building mechanization and technical aid of the Academy of Building and Architecture of the USSR

"POTUS" instead of "Barack Hussein Obama, 44th President of the United States and recipient of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, former United States Senator from Illinois, former Illinois State Senator, and former community organizer."

POTUS is kind of annoying actually. President of the United States. I guess the title means so little now to the public that abbreviations are acceptable. I'm surprised they're not calling him and the first lady Michack. Or Barelle.

Abbreviating something isn't always a lack of respect, unless one wants to see it that way
