    Good for you Taylor!

Great points Skidmark. I guess my trepidation is really based around waiting 2 more weeks to give the 2 weeks notice. I just can't screw a couple of customers I've worked with for years and years.

On another note, I sell Enterprise Software solutions that typically require Oracle or SQL databases with standalone servers, App servers, and most commonly JBOSS or Websphere. This year, 3 out of the 4 deals I've sold have all gone on VMware.

It appears to be taking over from customary standalone architecture...
I know those environments quite well. I USED TO, , implement shipping systems that would connect to all of those. And you're right, everything is going virtual.

How was your Service Desk support?

I would be in the same position given the opportunity to move to another company.

There are times in my projects where I cannot take a day off, be sick or anything other than "not there."

Mike, exactly. My new job, rather, the first day of my new career is July 16th. Seems like so long from now..... Plus, between now and the day I give notice, July 2, I have to try and not take on new projects. That's the part that is going to be very difficult as I'm a corporate whore and my pimp likes me to be scheduled out at least 6 weeks.....

Good point. Just re-read the "Employee Handbook", hasn't been updated since 2002....... Looks like 2 weeks is the "request". Time to get my ducks in a row! Damn, I'm getting excited now!

#1 in the company this quarter. Monster bonus (to me). Just can't stand this environment, way too stagnant of a lifestyle for me. Learned so much and have made many valuable relationships. Life is too short to stay doing something you hate just because the pay is good.

                    My .02

Congrat's on the new gig. One of my coworkers turned in his notice today too.

Cool man, good luck to you. They'll probably be pissed, but that wouldn't have changed with a longer notice. Best to get yourself out of there as quickly as possible, and you wont have to deal with shitty attitudes longer.

Give them two weeks and an option to pay you as a contractor to finish any projects they can't handle without you aafter you leave. Make them pay for it too. Of course this only works if you can work it opposite of your new obligation and there is a not a nocompete clause or COBC violation.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

                              Zing!

I would hate not finishing any projects I had ownership in.

Good luck on the new gig Darren.

Two weeks is plenty, most places don't even give you the common courtesy to finish it out anyway(if you have access to sensitive info). Obviously you don't ever want to burn bridges since you never know who you'll come across again later in life. A lot of companies now also "aren't in the habit of re-hiring people" either.
