Red Bull: No public F1 show car event in Austin this week
By Dave Doolittle | Thursday, August 18, 2011, 12:38 AM
Red Bull announced early today that they are not doing a public show car event in Austin this week.
“Due to feasibility, a formal Formula One show car demonstration that is open to the public will not be executed this week,” Red Bull said in a statement. “However, in an effort to bring fans up-close and personal to Formula One, the Red Bull Racing show car will be on display in front of the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum this Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.”
The museum is at the corner of Congress Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard downtown.
The statement did not give more details.
Red Bull had filed a film permit with the city to shoot an F1 car on Congress Avenue on Saturday between 15th Street and MLK Jr. Boulevard. That permit was pending approval Wednesday.
“Red Bull is excited about the upcoming U.S. Grand Prix, and based on hosting past events in the city, is eager to drive awareness of the race and the sport in general to a broad audience,” Red Bull’s statement said.

That sucks. I have a couple of buddies who where going to video it for me too....
On the edit.
I sent that link to my friend who lives there and here's his response.....
"This is disinformation in order to keep the size of the crowd down. They will be filming a commercial Saturday between 7-9AM. I will be there."Last edited by Darren M; 08-19-2011, 09:31 AM.Originally posted by Taya Kyle, American GunThere comes a time when honest debate, serious diplomatic efforts, and logical arguments have been exhausted and only men and women willing to take up arms against evil will suffice to save the freedom of a nation or continent.

Shouldn't the permit be publicly available? If so, how does one go about researching that kind of information?Originally posted by Taya Kyle, American GunThere comes a time when honest debate, serious diplomatic efforts, and logical arguments have been exhausted and only men and women willing to take up arms against evil will suffice to save the freedom of a nation or continent.

I'm not finding anything, but maybe others will have better luck.

Read between the corp speak people. Its not a public car show event, its a private filming event. They would say roughly the same thing if the event was filming a scene for a movie. They didnt say it wasnt going to happen, just that it wasnt for the public.
