They have now released the date for next year's race: June 17th, 2012.

Probably not the best time to be having the race, but it's immediately after the Canadian GP. It'll be hot, but I'm not sure it'll cause any problems other than being a little uncomfortable in the stands.

It will be in the low 90's most likely.

Anyone remember the last spring race at Ennis when it was so hot and no wind (and that was late May, not June). I made it thru Saturday, but gave up and did not come back Sunday. Won't be doing that with the proposed prices of the F1 tickets.

I am seriously thinking about renting a RV for that weekend to drive down there early.

            Latest update.
Many of you from around the globe tuned in this past week to watch as the Austin City Council considered finalizing the City’s official endorsement of Formula 1’s United States Grand Prix™. Your interest was obvious — so many of you were watching via the web that the City’s internet server crashed during the meeting!

We want to thank you for your enthusiasm and support of the United States Grand Prix. It is important for Council Members to know of your support because they have been asked to officially endorse the race. The endorsement provides the City and our race organizers access to a State of Texas fund set up many years ago by the Texas Legislature to attract large events like Formula 1, the Super Bowl and NCAA Final Four to Texas. The funds help offset the cost of producing the events, then are re-paid to the State following the events. As you may have seen, Council voted to delay taking action this past week, but all indications are they will provide the official endorsement once event contract details are finalized.

We are ready to bring the world to Austin and you can help make that happen. Take a moment today to send a message to Council Members through the AustinF1Facts.com website. Urge them to support endorsement of the race and let them know you want to see Formula 1 come to the U.S. once again. Council meets on Wednesday, June 29 to make its final vote, so send in your email today.

Thank you for helping Formula 1 in the U.S. cross the finish line!

I saw it in a survey they sent out. Don't have that anymore, but here is a post that talked abut the prices in the survey.

The list of the survey is to test the tolerance for proposed pricing.

Platinum Seats are located at the top of the Main Grandstand, in front of the Pit Straight and offer access to the clubhouse: $2400 to $3750 for a 1 year contract

Gold Grandstand Seats are located on the Main Grandstand, in front of the Pit Straight, but have NO access to the clubhouse: $1000 to $1560 for a 1 year contract

Silver Grandstand seating (Silver Grandstand Seats are located on the best curves but have no access to the clubhouse): $900 to $1410 for a 1 year contract

'Infield' Season Ticket holders will view the event from a high point on the circuit offering commanding views a multi-apex turn and the rest of the track. : $360 to $560 for general admission

'Key Curves' Ticket-holders will view either the eventful first turn or the exciting hairpin turn at the far end of the track: $300 to $470 general admission

'Sweeping Section' season tickets are located at a series of moderate curves along the first half of the track: $240 to $380

Wouldn't be thrilled with that pricing, but I'd shell out the money for the infield tickets. The rest of that shit will have to wait for a promotion or three.

Keep in mind that those say season tickets, not per race. The pricing i saw for general field admission was around 60-80 per ticket for a single weekend.

I saw that and was wondering what exactly "season" meant; if that's for most of the major races run at the track then I'd pay that without blinking.

Here are the prices for the up-coming British Grand Prix. Not bad (does not include parking). Of course, the weather at many British Grand Prix's is what we consider winter weather!

I did not look at the other prices, but that would be interesting on some of the more exotic locations.

Looks like Ecclestone is going to shuffle the calendar and move Bahrain to the end of the season, and it looks like the USGP is going to be in November as well.

A November race date has the potential to be FAR more enjoyable.
