Like i said, when real money starts paying to build this facility, you can tell me you were right.
Government has a long history of providing funding to things that lose money, and lots of it. All that has be shown is that the citizens of the state like the event and that a vaguely positive economic impact is created (again, the reality of whether it's positive or not isn't terribly important).

    • Just saw this. From the BBC last week: ".....Bernie Ecclestone says Formula 1 will not be big in the United States......"

Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone says the sport struggles to be a success in the United States as "they want to see a profit before they start".

You obviously do not know the entire issue. How would you like it if you actually owned a business and your customers were singled out to pay taxes that gave Perot and Cuban money to build a place to conduct their business...for almost free. Don't go knocking on Laura Miller unless you know what you are talking about.

Saw that. Can't decide if I'm going to bite or wait, because I'm not sure I want grandstand seating.

            • Yea I figure I would just do it now and decide when I get real pricing info later.

Hotels are already a son of a bitch. I've got one reserved all the eff up in roundrock.

That's no joke I live in Salado it's going to be easier and cheaper for me to hop on 130 AND DRIVE THE 45 MIN. I've thought about staying downtown that weekend, but not for 809 a night at the hampton inn.

If that's downtown, wonder what it is at motels closer to the racetrack? Bet all the little podunk towns around the track will have sky high rooms for rent. If someone that has land nearby rents some travel trailers for the week, they could might make a killing!

Or maybe have their pasture turned into a parking lot like the guy across from Ennis does/did.

The Nice hotels downtown appear to be sold out out or booked off already. The holiday inn in Elgin is wanting 500+ a night. This is the one by the airport. I only have a 45 minute drive at the most so I'll be driving it all three days with the old man when he comes in from Houston.

Looks like it's TV for me (assuming it is not blacked out)! The high prices are disappointing, but do not surprise me. I hate to see the prices if the event stays there!
