don't forget me butthead! I called it too based on the fact austin couldn't support the race and Bernie was going to drain the tax payers of texas. Have to give Susan McCombs some credit for pulling the plug on a losing deal.

        • those guys are such rookies, they are trying to make Bernie look like the asshole. Heres how this deal works, If you want the circus to come to town, YOU build a venue that meets the circus's needs and specifications. Then Bernie, or Brian France tells you how much you have to pay to have his performers come to your party. From there you get all the profit from the event you can sell.

wouldnt you want a contingent contract that ensures the circus would even come to your town and know in advance how much that shit would cost before you spend a shit ton of money?

this isn't a charity, wealthy people are the ones who are capable of doing this. Bruton Smith did not ask for help to build TMS, he reached in his own pocket built a track(WITHOUT A CONFIRMED NASCAR RACE DATE), then to get a race date, he bought an existing track to shut it down...........

He can get his contract when he builds his track, but he's a broke dick dreamer trying to make money with no investment of his own.

                • I can only hope all of your speculations are wrong and the show comes to Austin. Yes, it's like praying for rain in the Sahara but one can always pray.

nobody will build or promote an F1 race in america because they loose a shit ton of money. The Tv deal for nascar pays back the tracks almost even what the event sanction fee from nascar charges for the event. Speedvision gets payed to air F1 because they can sell no sponsorship, same with indycar and versus.

Is that what really happened to the US GP in Indy? Those were some of the BEST events I've ever been to.

                      • Traffic is bad enough in Austin. We don't need anyone else, especially Johnny Dallas or Euro Peeon, ruining this town.

Although, I was seriously considering renting my place out during that week.

Best in terms of revenue generated for the host? Anything but nascar looses money hand over fist. The truck series is nascar but has no tv deal and they are loosing venues left and right. It costs about $700k for nascar to bring you a truck race, combined with maybe 30k seats sold and $0 from a tv deal, it's an ignorant business plan that will fail.
