Many of those houseboats have a water slide built in. My son loved it.

Been doing some searching and will add this to it..
Headed out of work to start this vacation with a beating at the gym.

Ya, San Antonio in general. Plenty to do there besides that, too. Alamo, Tower of the Americas, Fiesta Texas, Riverwalk, Schliterbahn up the road, etc.

What about Carlsbad Caverns then onto Grand Canyon? Our kids were mesmerized by both of them and loved going.

I liked Carlsbad as a kid but the Grand Canyon has always been kinda lame to me. Granted it is a marvel but hey it's just a hole. Maybe going down the river and seeing it from the river level would give me a greater respect for it.
