I guarantee it did. What does that have to do with anything? I won't ever buy ANY vehicle new again. I posted actual numbers, per your request, and you're trying to use a non related statement to disqualify it.

I did the following.I went to grapevine Ford and picked the highest price 2011 Lariat supercrew 4x4 in a f150 and f250 ( i ignored platinum, HD, raptors etc) to keep it as fair as possible. I used the MSRP before any discounts.

Used priced was found by using NADA and putting in 2008 model supercrew 4x4 fully loaded (same options for both) at 100,000 miles.

Fully Loaded Lariat F150 Supecrew 4x4
          2011 MSRP (grapevine Ford): 51,000
          2008 NADA clean retail: 28,875
          Loss of 43% in value

Fully Loaded Lariat F250 Supercrew 4x4 diesel
          2011 MSRP 64,000
          2008 NADA clean retail: 35,675
          Loss of 44% in value.

I would say the resale for the trucks is about the same when you look at it percentage wise. Off course the diesel will bring a higher price... but it also cost a higher price.
I want to say that in 08 the f-250 was about 48k new. The new trucks went way up in price.

Fine by me. I don't need to impress anyone. I'm simply looking at how many miles I can get out of a vehicle before having to replace it. And hands down, there is no argument, that a diesel will last AT MINIMUM 5 times longer than a gasser.

5 times minimum? i'll take that bet.. my f150 has 104k on it.. find me some 06 superduties with over half a million on them on the original drive train.

and it shouldn't be fine by you, all those miles you drive on the road. now add squeeking, howling wind at highway speeds, shitty creature comforts, etc.. makes driving oh so enjoyable.

You posted numbers... but we are talking about resale value compared to your original purchase price.

The only thing yours proves is that a gas truck with 90,000 more miles is 5500 dollars cheaper than the diesel truck.

It is safe to say that for most vehicles the first 100,000 miles are usualy free of major issues.

So you can drive your diesel to 500,000 and beyond before replacing transmission or internal parts? If this were true people would not complain about how much it cost when their diesels break.

The cost of ownership will always be much higher on a diesel. Yes, you do get more from a diesel but most don't need it.

Cost of ownership= Purchase price +maintenance +fuel for life of ownership +major repiars - sold price when you sell it.

                      • Has anyone answered the mileage length on diesel oil changes yet? Is it 10k or 15k?

my wife's '10 lariat has just as much plastic in the interior as my dodge...in fact, they all seem to be about the same, as far as plastic goes.

...and the 6.0 superduties are definitely bad examples!

dpf = january 07+...none for me. you can remove them, anyway...they still just do safety inspections on diesels, as far as i know. i think my inspection runs ~$12 or so.

My Expedition has 180,000 on it, and the bottom end is letting loose, and the rear end is going to sieze any day now. They are all over the place. Kyle, I know you're not that dense. Come on now.... Where's Cooter? He knows exactly where to find all those trucks.... I don't have enough time to search for that shit.

As opposed to on the sidewalk? lol. I don't mind. Give me a/c, a radio, and I'm good. Howling and all that can be corrected with new weatherstripping and dynamat.

                            • I usually get rid of a car after I put 15-25k on it anyway, so I don't really give a shit how long it will last as long as it makes it far enough before I find something else.

my owner's manual says 15k under normal driving conditions or 7,500 with a lot of hauling. i change mine around 7-10k, though.
