  • Looking for a crazy looking antenna

I need to make the most goofball Jetsons looking antenna for a photoshoot. I'm talking something gawdy like a scifi artist from the 50's would come up with.

I can start with a satellite TV dish, or old roof antenna, but I figured you guys might know about something I've never heard of.

    Maybe something like this:

    or this...

But it doesn't have to work, and can't be expensive.

I know it's a weird question, and I could be wasting your time. I'm fine with that. Now one of you knuckleheads help me out with some ideas.

Looks like you could start out with an old sat dish and a de-thatching rake.

That first one could be made on the cheap if you've got some old shit lying around. Might cost a litle bit if you have to pick things up, but it could be built using stuff from Lowe's reasonably.

Get with that guy that was welding shit together for mailbox posts and see what he's got lying around.

Make one out of copper pipe, ala a yagi antenna.

You need to watch Honey, I Shrunk The Kids or one of its sequels. That'd be some good source material.

I think I have an old one that jluv gave me, it looks like it would at least be a good start on #2.

HamCom is going to be at the Plano Convention Center this weekend. Amateur Radio Operators will gather for the 2nd largest swapmeet in the US for the hobby. You will find commercial vendors with antenna displays and catalogs, and people trying to sell their treasures (junk) which some may have very interesting antennae as well. website is http://www.hamcom.org for more information...

Point - Amateur Radio operators are a crafty and unique bunch..and they do have some very unusual antennae at times
