Perhaps so. But I don't think carte blanche saying that buying a house is an investment. The OP is talking about basically being a broke ass. So this isn't a thread about flipping houses, real estate investing, or whatnot. If someone is looking to not be a broke ass, buying a house surely isn't the way to go. I'd venture to say that a vast majority of new homeowners since 2007 are going to be upside down on their mortgages. Long term a house might be an investment, but I wouldn't say it's a short term one, or a means to not be a broke ass.

I might have painted the wrong picture here, I wouldnt say "broke ass". Just after everythings said and done for the month its alot tighter than it needs to be. I bought a house almost three years ago (forclosure on an 1.5 acr lot)
thats well in my means, but being young and first house i charged all kinds of shit for the move in. Furniture, remodel, carpet, mower, you name it. Now years later shits whipping my ass and Im sick of it. I know one thing, when I pay this crap off these accounts are closed!

Well, I was making more of a generalized statement in regards to anyone else reading that might be a broke ass.
